Marcel Duchamp is known for his “readymades”, which were everyday objects that he elevated to the status of art. His work challenged traditional ideas about the role of the artist.
For this season, ‘THE BOOK of DZYAN’ ANGELO FAIR wanted to explore the idea of junk art or object art more in depth and how this approach to art and craft could be used in haute couture. Working as an alchemist, transforming and recycling everyday objects into haute couture embellishments, what evolved was a new way to approach the art of couture craft. Moving beyond hand embroideries or 3D printing, but into a new realm of possibilities seen through the eyes of an artist.
