THE CHROME SUN

A RADIANT BIAS COLLISION
A luminous centerpiece of the Painting the Moon narrative, The Chrome Sun captures the intense, unfiltered brilliance of a star through seamless architectural precision. This gown celebrates the transition from the industrial to the infinite, where high-end tailoring meets raw, avant-garde sculpture.
The foundation is a masterclass in fluidity: a sun-yellow, bias-cut silk crepe that flows without visible seams, culminating in a sophisticated hidden closure. The bodice serves as a fine-art canvas, featuring a complex dialogue of hand-painting, meticulous beading, and embroidery. This textural landscape is enhanced by silk organza cut-outs that merge into the paint, creating a rhythmic play on light and shadow that drapes into a monumental hand-sculpted rose on the left shoulder. In a nod to John Chamberlain’s influence, a raw, crumbled copper sculpture anchors the left side, providing a metallic, terrestrial counterpoint to the liquid grace of the silk.
