THE LUNAR ARCHIVES

A sartorial tribute to the layered complexity of Robert Rauschenberg’s assemblages, The Lunar Archives is a masterclass in structural fusion. This piece serves as a physical record of the Painting the Moon collection, forging disparate materials into a singular, cohesive narrative of creative defiance.
Unlike a traditional patchwork, this jacket is “hand-pieced”—meticulously forged together using various artisanal couture stitches to unite an extraordinary array of textures. The composition blends the industrial weight of black wool, cashmere, and neoprene with the diaphanous fragility of silk organza and various couture laces. This tactile dialogue is punctuated by panels of genuine lizard and crocodile, alongside hand-painted buckram and intricate embroidery. The upper body, crafted from illusion silk organza, allows the structured sleeves and body to appear as if they are floating, suspended in the low-gravity environment of a lunar vault.
