THE ALCHEMIST’S DEBRIS

LOOK 1

AN ASSEMBLAGE OF LUNAR VOYAGE:

A masterpiece of creative defiance from the Painting the Moon collection, this dress explores the intersection of industrial wreckage and celestial beauty. Inspired by the “Moon Museum” of 1969, the garment interprets the artistic debris left among the stars through a lens of structural collapse.

The skirt features an innovative “Chamberlain” draping technique, utilizing a hand-built exoskeleton of crushed paper-nylon tulle sculpted over with ivory silk organza to create a floating, “crushed cloud” silhouette. The bodice is a triumph of mixed-medium fine art, merging hand-painted silk organza with industrial copper piping and dripping amethyst crystals. This avant-garde composition is further electrified by copper wirework, hand-painted and embroidered buckram, and steam-treated plastic fragments outlined in hand-painted neoprene.

Technique: John Chamberlain “Crushed” Draping; Hand-Built Textile Exoskeleton; Steam-Treated Plastic Sculpting; Fine Art Hand-Painting and Hand-Embroidery.

Silhouette: Voluminous “Crushed Cloud” Mini with Sculptural Assemblage Bodice.
