OPUS V: KANDINSKY’S JUNGLE
Executed 2024

Opus V is a cavalcade of wearable art breathing life into the fabric of dreams. Inspired by Kandinsky’s North African journeys, this work is a symphony of color and form where the African plain harmonizes with abstract visions. Bronze silk duchess satin sculpts the air, while royal navy crepe drapes with Hellenistic grace. Each masterwork is adorned with hand-crafted embellishments—from pink tulle braids to blue jay feathers. This immersive manifestation merges wild landscapes and abstract artistry through the Maestro’s unmediated hand.

Opus V explores the enigmatic period of Wassily Kandinsky’s North African travels alongside Gabriele Münter. This narrative delves beyond his abstract fame to manifest the mystery of that desert voyage. By synthesizing Kandinsky’s color theory with the organic patterns of the African wild, the work realizes a new sculptural vernacular. Traditional braiding techniques from African and Japanese cultures are reinterpreted as unmediated crafting methods, transforming abstract lines into tactile masterworks. It is a study of the artist as an explorer, where color meets the craft of the hand.
