Angelo Fair is not a couturier—he is a Maestro, a master artisan whose vision transcends fashion to become pure artistic expression. Every stitch, every fold, every line of his work is the product of a journey that spans continents, centuries of tradition, and the influence of the great masters. It is this path that allows him to practice Main de Maestro: the creation of garments entirely by the hand of the master, in the spirit of true, unmediated artistry.
A Painter’s Eye – Italy
From a young age, Angelo was drawn to the language of form and color. Raised by his grandmother, a seamstress crafting Parisian-inspired dresses, he grew up surrounded by the beauty of Scherrer, Lacroix, and Ungaro—the latter becoming a defining inspiration. At 20, he left America for Florence, where he studied fashion illustration and fine art, discovering the works of Roberto Capucci. The sculptural, painterly quality of Capucci’s dresses left an indelible mark, shaping Angelo’s understanding of fabric as a medium for expression.
In Florence, he apprenticed at the Museo del Tessuto, immersing himself in textiles, their textures, colors, and historical techniques. This deep exploration of material became the foundation for his mastery of draping—understanding how cloth can sculpt, flow, and move with the body. Angelo then trained with a former designer for Enrico Coveri and Byblos, merging old-world craftsmanship with a fearless sense of experimentation.
A Sculptor’s Hand – New York & London
Returning to New York, Angelo refined his technical skills at FIT, studying fashion and tailoring. He worked with luxury houses and in the atelier of an haute couture master, building the precision and rigor that would define his future work.
